The Senior Investment Counsellor is a licensed Advising Representative committed to expanding Manitou Investment Management Ltd.’s portfolio of high-net-worth clients. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a passion for client advisory and asset management. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in creating tailored, strategic asset allocations while fostering long-term client relationships. Manitou is known for delivering high-touch, personalized, and performance-driven services to 200+ clients that include Individual & Families, Foundations and Institutions. Key Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and expand a portfolio of clients aligned with Manitou’s ‘client, team, self’ philosophy, focusing on high-net-worth individuals.
- Investment Expertise: Develop an excellent understanding of Manitou’s investment process and mandates to effectively communicate strategies to clients.
- Strategic Advisory: Design and implement tailored investment strategies that align with clients’ financial goals, risk profiles, and market conditions.
- Business Development: Identify and pursue new business opportunities through proactive outreach and through building a network of competent professionals with whom client relationships can be cultivated and built upon.
- Sales Expertise: Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals to prospective clients, showcasing Manitou’s value proposition.
- Mentorship & Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor offerings and market trends to identify opportunities for Manitou to differentiate and grow.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Research and Portfolio Management teams and fellow Investment Counsellors to ensure a cohesive approach to client investment strategies.
- Revenue Growth: Achieve and surpass individual and team revenue and profitability targets, contributing to the firm’s overall success.
Qualifications & Skills
- 7+ years of experience in investment advisory or wealth management, with a proven track record of success in client acquisition and retention.
- Strong financial acumen, with the ability to translate complex market insights into actionable client strategies.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- CFA or CIM designation required.
- A post-secondary degree in Finance or Business, or equivalent business experience desired, but not required.
- Strong leadership capabilities with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
